This piece is a reflection of memories other people have shared, from Tania herself to those who were there to witness events for themselves. For nearly five years running, Tania participated in an annual skydiving event for a young girl named Courtney Rosas. Courtney and the Rosas family had long been friends of not only Tania, but our families celebrated many important holidays together.
Tania's love for Courtney and her dedication to the skydiving event every year went beyond mere friendship. For Tania, there was an unconditional support and love for Courtney that was otherwordly.
And that was exactly how Tania described jumping out of that plane. She described the ascent through the clouds like a majestic climb, and she spoke with such fervor about it that it was like you were right there with her the whole time.
When she described the jump from the plane, she would often talk to me like it was the most peaceful feeling she had ever experienced. Exhilarating, yes, but this strange sense of calm and peace as she descended through the clouds and made her way back to Mother Earth.
I was never able to experience that moment with her in person. My work always kept me away on days when she would jump, but I'll never forget the way she described it.
